Creating has always been second nature to me. After studying art history in college, I went on to work as the Creative Director for a women's clothing boutique. For years I ran my Etsy creating custom art to wear, such as painted/embroidered shoes and jackets. I recently decided to venture on my own to pursue the dream of becoming a full time artist. As a Colorado native I'd always had an affinity for Southwestern inspired art. On a road trip I purchased a few bull skulls with plans to decorate and embellish them to sell to friends. After posting on social media, I quickly realized the demand was high. I have my work online, in salons, in boutiques and have participated in multiple fairs across Colorado. I began Rose & Royce in March 2016 and can not wait to keep chasing the dream.
I believe in the idea of giving another life to the cow skulls. Each piece is an authentic cow skull from Mexico. Each has its own unique qualities and personality. I aim to emphasize the juxtaposition between life and death, beauty and roughness. My experience in women's fashion along with my use of real animal skulls work together to achieve that juxtaposition. I am endlessly inspired by the colors, textures, and patterns from both nature and fashion.
